With spectacular views of Tampa Bay, the Banyan trees of Straub Park and the downtown skyline, The Birchwood boasts as one of the most desirable destinations in St. Petersburg.
The owner of The Birchwood, Chuck Prather chose The Birchwood name to honor his father, who once developed a neighborhood in Hillsborough County by the same name. In honor, the southern exterior of the concrete addition is adorned with a 12-by-24-foot mural of a birch forest.
The Birchwood was originally constructed in 1924 as the Lantern Lane Apartments and the only apartments along Beach Drive facing the waters of Tampa Bay. The Spanish Mission-style building, listed in the National Registry of Historic Places, underwent a renovation of historically accurate dimensions with the addition of two floors.
The Birchwood was born blending the best of the old and new. Its signature restaurant, Birch & Vine delivers globally inspired farm-to-table fine dining with either traditional or banquette seating and wine selection that spans the length of the restaurant. Treat yourself to unique plates crafted by Chef Jason Cline, in a relaxed atmosphere and quality service you deserve.
The Canopy Rooftop Lounge, where the waters of Tampa Bay are your backdrop to glass, sky and grass, is outfitted with private cabanas, living room seating, fire pits, casual dining areas and a sky bar.
Also housed in The Birchwood are eighteen boutique guestrooms all meticulously finished and an 8,000 square foot Grand Ballroom, located on the fourth floor, that conveys floor to ceiling breathtaking views.
Welcome to the Birchwood where you are now a part of our new history!
